                  Safety In Limassol, Cyprus

Limassol, Cyprus on stones with sand background. limassol

Limassol, Cyprus, is considered as a safe place. It enjoys low crime rates and has well-established emergency services (police, ambulance, and fire services).

Like any other country, however, it’s strongly recommended to follow basic personal safety precautions. Therefore, be aware of your surroundings, avoid isolated or poorly lit areas at night, be cautious when interacting with strangers, don’t flash your wallet or carry lots of cash, avoid wearing expensive jewelry, lock your homes and cars, and keep valuables out of sight.

Petty crime can occur in Limassol. Pickpocketing, bag snatching, or theft can happen when you least expect it. Visitors and residents should take common sense precautions such as keeping valuables secure, not leaving your stuff unattended, and keeping your belongings close to you when using public transportation or in crowded areas.

                  Health Care In Limassol, Cyprus

Friendly nurse supporting an elderly lady. limassol

Health care in Cyprus is generally considered of high quality. Limassol is no different. This coastal city has modern medical facilities and well-trained professionals.

Cyprus has both public and private health care sectors.

Public health care is available to residents who contribute to the system via social insurance contributions and have a Cypriot social insurance number. It’s important to keep in mind, though, that public health care centers in Limassol (and elsewhere) are likely to include a long waiting line. Many doctors from Cyprus received their education and training abroad meaning they’re likely to speak at least some basic English.

The private health care system in Limassol is available to both residents and non-residents offering a wide range of services. These centers offer a wider range of services, less waiting time than public health care centers, and more choices of doctors and specialists.

Private hospitals, clinics, and medical centers are equipped with advanced medical facilities and technology. Private health care providers are also more likely to speak English.

Visa And Residency In Limassol, Cyprus

                    Visa limassol cyprus

United States passport holders do not need a visa to enter Cyprus and can remain there for 90 days.

In the south of Cyprus (Limassol), the easiest residency route is the Category F Permit, which is renewable annually, but it’s slow—it can take up to two years to be approved (during this time you can leave the country without penalty).

This is what we commonly refer to as the “self-sufficiency option”. So, as long as you can prove an income that will support you in the country, you’ll be given residency.

You don’t need to apply for this visa in advance of arriving in Cyprus, you can simply land in country on your tourist visa and extend it for up to a year while you apply.

This is an immediate permanent residency. But you may be asked to reprove your qualifications after a few years. So, it is essentially without expiration.

Stay up to date on any recent changes or for any additional information on visa and residency permits by visiting the Cyprus Embassy in the United States website or by contacting them directly.
