How did a quiet residential neighborhood in Belize end up sharing Caribbean seafront with a washing machine graveyard?
What do you do when you discover your new neighbor in Ecuador turns their home into a raucous open-to-all disco every weekend?
When an Argentinian family roll into a private party with a trolley-load of cash and start handing out chunks of change, what’s the protocol?
And just why did residents of a Panama golf community bribe a rooster?
If you joined us for day one of the International Property Summit you’ll know the answers as Lief Simon sat down with his gathered team of experts to reveal the perks and pitfalls of international real estate investing.
Over the past 25 years, Lief has invested millions of dollars in dozens of properties and, as he shared with the crowd at this year’s event, just one of them was a textbook play. All the rest threw curveballs, taught lessons, and yes, there were some losses, too—but ultimately they delivered returns that have secured his financial future and that of his family.
That was one of the key takeaways of day one’s proceedings… investing in real estate is about growing your wealth, sure… but it’s also about protecting it for future generations.
Indeed, one of the deals on the table this week is a long-term play—with a buy-in as low as $10k, this is one that could pay off the grandkids’ college loans in time.
It’s a deal Lief has personally bought into… In fact, it may be time to invest again because as he revealed yesterday, before catching a flight to Panama for the event he was with Kathleen in Paris celebrating the arrival of their second grandchild.
Another of Lief’s investments—a parcel of land in Canada—was originally earmarked for a quick flip… but things changed and 20 years on, when Lief was going to put it back on the market, his son had a better idea… a father-son project to build a family cabin.
Lief’s hands-off, easy earner has evolved into a family legacy undertaking—a return on investment he’s more than happy with.

Indeed, one of the big attractions of real estate investing is how the right deal can accommodate changing plans and still deliver solid returns. As our Belize insider told the room, lots of people are buying homes in Belize now with the plan to rent them until retirement, then make the move down there…
If the retirement dream becomes a reality, well and good. But should plans change as plans so often do, they’ll still have been banking rental income in the interim and if they choose to sell up, any capital appreciation can fund their new retirement dream whatever it may be.
That tied into what was perhaps the most important piece of advice shared yesterday: don’t wait for the best deal. You’ll end up waiting forever. Prices will rise and fall and rise again. If you keep waiting to take the leap, chances are you’ll miss the boat entirely.
It was the experts’ advice yesterday to those gathered at this year’s International Property Summit and, if you weren’t among them, it’s my advice to you now.
There’s still time to request a Virtual Pass which will allow you to watch the rest of the International Property Summit online. And don’t worry about the sessions you’ve missed, as an attendee you’ll gain access to a complete recordings package once the event wraps.
Yesterday Lief ran through the list of deals on the table available to those gathered both in the room and online… I can’t reveal the full details but here’s a sneak preview…
A turnkey Mediterranean island apartment under $100k…
Mexico beach homes under $150k…
A low-capital option in Europe offering hassle-free rental income up to 10%…
An agri-investment with profit potential as high as $413k…
Boltholes in Panama, master-planned communities in Colombia, direct investment opportunities in the Emerald Isle…
And the best turnkey investment opportunity Lief has ever seen… What’s so good about it…? The 8 to 9% net yields are nice, of course, and the 130k buy-in is more than reasonable considering just what’s on offer…
You’ll need to join us at the International Property Summit for all the details on that deal—Lief’s connection will be sharing them during Friday’s sessions…
Today we’re looking to Portugal, Mexico, Spain, Montenegro, and beyond. Plus, getting the inside track on building a monthly income stream using dollars you would otherwise pay out to federal and state income taxes.
You don’t want to miss it.
Opportunity is knocking. It’s up to you to answer.
Sincerely,
Victoria Harmer
