A forgotten place of raw natural beauty is about to be rediscovered… A place with long sandy beaches and perfect Mediterranean weather. It’s steeped in ancient culture and history…
Underpopulated, overeducated, and possibly the cheapest place to live in the Western world, this former British colony has low crime rates, and English is widely spoken.
It seems to have figured out the formula for the perfect lifestyle, too…
People live to great ages due to the stress-free existence and healthy diets. Doctors continue to be amazed that rates of heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes fall every year. Medical tourism is popular because of its great hospitals and medical care.
Education is the second-biggest industry in this forward-thinking country. It’s got more students per capita than any other country and six universities that are so good that they attract thousands of foreign students.
It’s known as the Miami of the Mediterranean—a title with stiff competition from many luxury locations on the Med. Yet, despite its splendor and many accolades, it’s a place that even many Europeans don’t know exists…
With a population of only 330,000, nestled right against the border of the EU, it is a special place in the northeast corner of the Mediterranean Sea.
It has a near-perfect Mediterranean climate, with up to 340 days of sunshine every year and temperatures that rarely rise above 40°C (104°F) or fall below 15°C (59°F) with cooling breezes.
It has some of the best beaches in the world, which you can have all to yourself if you wish.
This secret spot has the best-value real estate in the Western world… but that won’t last forever. The world is taking notice of this Mediterranean jewel, with its young English-speaking population and attractive investment and business environment.
It’s where my family and I made our first-ever property purchase, a pre-construction play that is projected to be worth at least double what we put in by the time of completion.
With a booming tourism market and built-in property and rental management, we’re considering renting it out for a few years before we flip it, squeezing even more of a profit out of it before we cash out for the big bucks.

I’m talking about Cyprus, the third largest island on the Med, occupying the same latitude as Southern California but with better weather and far better prices.
Cyprus has dazzled folks since the beginning of human civilization—it’s the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, Greek goddess of beauty and love…
These days, the island features the same white-sand beaches, crystal blue waters, and countless lemon, fig, and olive trees that were there thousands of years ago when philosophers and mythologists named it the Isle of Aphrodite…
But it now also boasts big opportunities for the retiree or investor abroad:
- Easy residency (US$1,000 a month to qualify)
- Tasty food (that’s good for your heart)
- Affordable real estate (often under US$100k)
- Thriving expat communities
- One of the safest places in the world (graded “A” for safety in our 2023 Overseas Retirement Index)
- Enough history and outdoor activities to last a lifetime…
And starting quietly in 2014, a property boom has been building, and it is only now gaining full momentum.
It’s time for us all to take a look at this little island nation because the next global land rush is going to be right here, specifically in its northern half…
Our colleagues in Cyprus send us regular updates on their inventory, and I’ve been completely hooked by some of these luxury properties they’ve sent lately…
Like this luxury vineyard resort, with apartments and villas that promise a life among the vines, with stunning views of the Med.
The Location
The vineyard is nestled in the mountains of Kyrenia, which have been famous for their Mediterranean overlook since the Medieval era.
Because of their strategic views of the sea, fortifications were built on these mountains from the 10th to 15th centuries, tall towers and castles dotting the horizon used to keep watch for dangers coming from abroad. You can still visit some of their remains at Saint Hilarion, Buffavento, and Kantara Castles.
Today, the views are no less staggering, though more known for marine life sightings, bird watching, and enjoying boats scoot across the wide blue sea than for potential invaders and pirates.

The residential community in the vineyard resort is an extension of a high-end, adults-only boutique hotel, offering top shelf amenities that residents can avail of as well as guests.

Apartments overlooking the community pool
The communal swimming pool, lush vineyards, cozy café, and a play area for children add to the community feel.
Just a 5-minute drive to the beach and Alsancak town center, a 15-minute drive to Kyrenia city center, and 35 minutes to the Ercan International Airport, convenience is key to this location.

Have You Heard Of Vinotherapy? (I Hadn’t!)
The hotel’s famous “wine spa” incorporates the anti-oxidant properties of wine into their relaxing packages.
The medicinal and cosmetic qualities of grapes and their resulting wines have been documented since ancient times. Royalty here used to rub grape juice on their skin, noting the fresh, vibrant glow that it gave.
The extracts from the wine-making process—the pips, pulp, and grapeseed oil—are great for exfoliation and are said to improve circulation, reducing problems associated with aging, revitalizing the skin, and reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
The traditional Turkish hammam, a heated tiled room with a warm göbek taşı (tummy stone) to lay on as you are rubbed down and exfoliated, is the height of relaxation.
Why Wine?
Cyprus is home to the world’s oldest wine in production…
Commandaria, the historic wine used for Holy Communion, has been produced here since 800 BC and was believed to have therapeutic qualities by the Crusaders who came across the island. It was declared “the wine of kings and the king of wines” by Richard the Lionheart when he celebrated his marriage and conquest of the island.
It has been praised throughout Europe ever since. In the 13th century, a “Battle of the Wines” was held by the French King Philip Augustus, and Commandaria won first prize.
The wines produced on this estate are nine world-class vintages. Indulge in tastings, learn about the winemaking process, or simply enjoy the beauty of the vineyard as you explore the sprawling grounds…
Two of the wines here were awarded prestigious medals at the International Wine Challenge 2023 in London, and the estate is home to the Annual Spring Wine Festival.
Discover the magic of the winemaking process, from the planting of the vines to the final production—taking part in harvest or simply enjoying tours, tastings, and more.
